Founded in 1793, Hochalpines Institut Ftan (HIF), The Swiss International School and Sportive Academy, offers a large variety of educational programs for students studying in years 7-12. HIF was certified by The Graubünden Canton to prepare and examine students in the Swiss Matura system and by Cambridge Assessment, for the IGCSE program. HIF is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and is pursuing certification as IB World School for the school year 2020/2021. HIF focuses on mentaining and improving students' academic performance, their sportive performance and also their wellbeing.
The unique character of the school consists in offering the students the possibility of combining the sportive program that includes competitive and recreational sports with and international academic program.The sport promots their health, wellbeing and improves their stamina, auto-discipline and team-working skills, all of these being necessary qualities for the future leaders.
Hochalpines Institut Ftan is situated close to the Ftan city (altitude: 1648m) surrounded by a beautiful Alpine scenery in the South-Easthern part of Switzerland. The neighbouring countries of this area are Italy and Austria.
Accomodation
The campus has 70 bright study rooms (single and double) decorated in an atractive and modern style. There are also designated areas for socializing, reading or relaxation.
Extracurricular activities
The school offers the students a variety of activities that bring a useful contribution to their academic portfolio: music, theater, choir, visual arts and a large variety of sports.The media center is a key location with a cosy lounge area, a computer room and a well supplied library. It also has a biliard table, table football and ping-pong tables.There is also a TV room and the students are free to practice playing the piano in the school's auditorium.
